Michael Aitken

Michael Aitken came to Lindenwood in the spring of 2010 and since joining the program, became the assistant distance/cross country coach. Prior to Lindenwood, Aitken was the head cross country/distance coach at McCluer High School for three years.

Aitken attended Ritenour High School in St. Louis and graduated from Lindenwood with a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in non-profit administration in spring 2011.

While in high school at Ritenour, Aitken was all-state at the Missouri Class 4A Cross Country Championships, placing 15th his senior year. Aitken was also a SNC conference champion and earned first team St. Louis Post Dispatch all-metro honors and second team honors for the St. Louis Track Club.

Aitken was a two time All-American for Lindenwood. In 2010, he took 5th in the Indoor 3000m Race Walk while setting a school record of 13:55. During the 2010 Outdoor season, Aitken was Runner-up at the NAIA National Championships in the Marathon with a time of 2:33.

He also was a five time member of the HAAC 1st Team All-Conference and was a top seven member of Lindenwood’s Cross Country team that took 3rd at the NAIA National Championships.

Aitken is married to his wife Julie and has a son, Runner.
