Ryan Butchart enters his fifth season as an assistant coach for the Lindenwood men’s soccer team in 2022.

Lindenwood compiled a record of 6-7-3 with the help of Butchart in 2021. Joshua Scholl earned second team All-GLVC honors while goalkeeper Zachary Martin was named GLVC Defensive Player of the Week one time. 

The 2020 season was moved to the spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Lindenwood concluded the season with a record of 3-11-0, as all contests were conference games.  The highlight of the season was a 2-1 upset victory over No. 3 Maryville.  Isaac Hoog scored both goals in the first half to earn GLVC Offensive Player fo the Week.  The Lions earned one shutout on the year, which came against Rockhurst at home.  Lindenwood played in many close games, as the Lions fell by one goal six different times.

Prior to the 2019 season, Butchart was named as the head coach of the boys soccer team at Lafayette High School in Wildwood, Mo.

In 2019, the team went 7-7-4, including a 6-5-4 record in GLVC play. Under the tutelage of Butchart, Luke McBeth was named second-team All-GLVC, and Tim Licht was named third-team All-GLVC.

During his first season as an assistant coach at Lindenwood in 2018, the Lions compiled a 9-6-3 record, including a 6-3-2 mark at Hunter Stadium. Lindenwood finished the season with a 3-4-1 record in conference play. The Lions had five of their 18 matches reach overtime, finishing with a 2-0-3 record in those contests.

Butchart played four years of college soccer, including his final two seasons as a member of the Lindenwood men’s soccer team. Butchart competed at Maryville University during his freshman and sophomore seasons.

During his two seasons as a student-athlete at Lindenwood, Butchart started 25 of the 31 games in which he appeared in. As a junior, Butchart was a member of Lindenwood’s 2016 MIAA Championship team that advanced to the NCAA National Tournament. Following the 2016 season, Butchart earned second-team all-conference honors.

Off the field, Butchart earned recognition as a member of the NSCAA Scholar Central All-Region team in 2016, and was a two-time Academic All-American nominee during the 2016 and 2017 seasons. Butchart was named to the CoSIDA first-team Academic All-District in 2017.

Butchart graduated from Lindenwood in December of 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and a double minor in secondary education and coaching. Butchart studied in Granada, Spain from January 2018 - May 2018. Butchart is currently pursuing his master's degree in education at Lindenwood.

Butchart, a native of Wildwood, Mo., attended Lafayette High School.
