Jennifer "JP" Dorn is in her second season as the Lindenwood women’s volleyball assistant coach in 2016, and she will continue working with the men’s volleyball team in 2017 for the third straight season.
Last season, Dorn helped the women’s volleyball team be the most improved team in the MIAA with a 10-game improvement in the win column. The Lady Lions finished tied for eighth in the conference standings and had three members named to the all-MIAA team. In her first season, Lindenwood improved by 1.4 kills a set, and had a 0.062 higher hitting percentage. Defensively, the Lady Lions averaged a dig a set better than the previous season.
For the last three seasons, Dorn has been a volunteer assistant coach for the Lindenwood men’s volleyball program. She helped the team to 19-12 in 2014, including a 15-1 non-conference mark. In 2015, she was part of a staff that helped Lindenwood win its first MIVA Tournament match, and set a program record with seven MIVA wins.
Prior to Lindenwood, she was an assistant coach for both the men’s and women’s teams at Clarke University. While at Clarke, Dorn helped the women’s team record a program-best 31-win season.
Dorn was a volunteer assistant coach for the men’s team at California Baptist from 2004-2006, and helped that program win back-to-back NAIA National Championships. She was an assistant coach at NCAA Division I Samford from 2002-04, and the head coach of the 16s team at Ventura County Volleyball Club from 2001-02.
Dorn was a NCAA Division I All-American at USC from 1998-2001. She was a four-year starter at the middle blocker position, and earned Pac-10 honors all four seasons. Dorn hit .353 for her career, including over .400 for her final two seasons. She recorded over 1,000 career kills and averaged over a dig and block a set.
Dorn is married to Kris Dorn, the Lindenwood men’s volleyball head coach. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from USC, and her Masters of Science degree in Kinesiology from California Baptist.
