David Cabrera was named the table tennis head coach in September 2016. The former Lindenwood player and assistant coach also brings over 15 years of competition experience to the position.
Cabrera was a member of the national team in his home country of Peru for two years. He participated in high level competition throughout South America, including Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, and Bolivia. He won the National Peruvian Title in 2000. Cabrera joined the Lions in the 2009-10 season and was a team member for four years. He helped Lindenwood earn the 2012 bronze medal in coed team competition at the College Table Tennis National Championships in Plano, Texas.
Cabrera started focusing more on coaching in 2015 after getting a teaching position at De Smet Jesuit High School in St. Charles, Missouri. He started a table tennis club at the school and developed a program with over 20 players of various levels. Not long after, he began volunteering as a coach at Lindenwood and supported the development and training of players from beginning skill level to elite.
Cabrera earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Lindenwood in 2012 and a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Missouri – Saint Louis in 2015.
