Madeline Staples enters her second season as a member of the Lindenwood women's basketball coaching staff in the 2020-21 season.
During the 2019-20 season, Staples assisted in the guidance of the Lions to a 19-9 record, with a 14-6 mark in the GLVC. Staples helped to create an efficient offense for the program, as the team was second in the GLVC in scoring per game (77.6), and third in assist/turnover ratio (1.01). In Staples' first season as a member of the coaching staff, three players received All-Conference honors, with Kallie Bildner being named to the first team, and Devin Fuhring and Lindsay Medlen being named to the second team.
Staples came to Lindenwood in the 2019-20 season, after spending the 2018-19 season as a graduate assistant coach at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. She helped recruit and evaluate talent for a team that finished last season 26-4, winning the WIAC Championship and advancing to the third round of the NCAA Division III National Championship. The Wisconsin-Oshkosh coaching staff was named the WBCA Coaching Staff of the Year last season. Staples also has experience coaching AAU with HoopStars Basketball in Madison, Wisconsin.
Prior to coaching for the Titans, Staples had a successful playing career, spanning four years at Wisconsin-Oshkosh. She played in 98 games, scoring 376 points while grabbing 301 rebounds. Staples helped lead the Titans to one of the top women's basketball programs in NCAA DIII. Over her tenure as a player, Oshkosh compiled a 93-23 record, winning three conference titles and advancing as far as the NCAA Third Round in 2016-17. The Titans were ranked as high as ninth by D3Hoops.com while Staples was on the roster.
Staples is a 2017 graduate of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a bachelor's degree in psychology and received her masters degree from Oshkosh in 2018. Staples will replace Ayriell Robinson, who left Lindenwood to take the head coaching position at William Woods University.
