Melanie Jue is in her second season in 2016-17 as an assistant coach for the Lindenwood women’s ice hockey team.
In her first season at Lindenwood, she was part of an improving program that posted program-best season numbers both offensively and defensively. The Lady Lions won nine games, including a win over nationally-ranked Northeastern, a team that would advance to the NCAA Division I Tournament. She assisted in the development of Shara Jasper, a first-team all-conference selection, and Shannon Morris-Reade, a member of the CHA all-rookie team.
Jue comes to Lindenwood from the Pursuit of Excellence hockey program that Lindenwood head coach Scott Spencer was also a part of. Prior to her time at Pursuit of Excellence, she also served a year as the head coach for the Richmond Raves Bantam AA team.
Jue was a two-sport star at Cornell University in the Ivy League. She was a goalie on the field hockey team. She helped the team have back-to-back 10-win seasons, including tying a school record with 11 wins in 2010. Jue ranked second in the nation in save percentage her senior season. She was a first-team all-Ivy selection all four years, and a second-team All-American as a senior.
On the ice, Jue was also a team leader for Cornell, including leading the team to the 2010 NCAA Women’s Frozen Four National Championship game. The team also won an Ivy League and ECAC titles during her career, and was ranked in the NCAA Top Ten. Jue led all seniors in points in 2009-10, and also led the team in goals during the NCAA Tournament.
