Anthony Beane begins his fifth season on the men’s basketball staff in the 2026-27 school year.
In 2025-26, Beane helped lead the Lions to their most successful season at the Division I level, finishing the season with an overall record of 18-15 and an OVC record of 11-9. The 18 wins and 11 conference wins were both the most in a single season in the D1 Era. Throughout the season, the Lions ranked top 50 nationally in several offensive categories including fastbreak points per game (16.3, 9th) and offensive rebounds per game (12.8, 38th), while leading the Ohio Valley Conference in free throws attempted (759), and total assists (479). The 2025-26 squad combined for a D1 Era record 26 double doubles, with Sophomore Guard Jadis Jones leading the way with 10. Anderson also coached three All-OVC Selections in Anias Futrell, Dontrez Williams, and Jones, who all finished inside the top 10 in the OVC in points per game. As a whole, Lindenwood ranked second overall in the OVC in scoring offense (77.8 ppg), while ranking third in field goal percentage (45.3%). Defensively, the Lions led the conference in blocks (149), while ranking third in defensive three point field goal percentage (30.5%), and defensive field goal percentage (42.4%).
Under the guidance of Beane in 2024-25, Lindenwood posted their most wins since the 2018-19 season and their most conference wins since the 2020-21 season. The Lions boasted the third best turnover margin in the OVC with a 2.09. Lindenwood forced teams into 484 turnovers which ranked the second most by a team in the conference. OVC Freshman of the Year and All-OVC Second Team Selection Jadis Jones was selected as the OVC Freshman of the Week 12 times breaking a 22-year-old OVC record. Markieth Browning II was also named to the All-OVC Second Team
During the 2023-24 season, Beane helped Keenon Cole earn second team all-conference honors. The Stremwood, Ill. native averaged 18.1 points per game, which ranked fourth in the OVC. Cole poured in a career-high 42 points in a 74-68 road win over SEMO on January 11. For his performance, Cole was tabbed the OVC Player of the Week as well as being recognized as one of the Oscar Robertson National Players of the Week.
In 2022-23, Lindenwood earned a spot in the OVC Championship tournament after a wild ending to the year. The Lions took down in-state rival Southeast Missouri State in double-overtime to keep their postseason hopes alive. In the final game of the regular season, Lindenwood needed a win to move on, and Kevin Caldwell Jr. answered the call with a game-winning bucket in overtime.
Lindenwood led the OVC in free-throw percentage (75.6), and was second in the OVC in three-point percentage (39.1). Chris Childs held the top spot in the league with a free-throw percentage of 92.7, while Keenon Cole was atop the OVC with a three-point percentage of 51.0 percent. The Lions clawed their way to three overtime wins on the season. Lindenwood also posted two comeback victories from 20 points down, and another 17-point comeback during OVC play.
Beane arrived at Lindenwood after spending the last season at Three Rivers College. His previous stop was at Northern Illinois, as Beane served as an assistant coach from 2019-21. In 2020, the Huskies were crowned MAC West Champions. Beane spent seven seasons as the top assistant at Southern Illinois, after a five-year stint as Illinois State. While at Southern Illinois, Beane helped the program to four-consecutive top-three finishes in the Missouri Valley Conference. From 2006-07, Beane was the head coach at Soldan High School after a four-year stop at Saint Louis University.
Beane had his first stop at Illinois State from 2000-02 where he was the top assistant coach. In his seven seasons at Illinois State, Beane and the Cardinals made four postseason tournament appearances. From 1995-2000, Beane made stops at Southeast Missouri State, West Plains Community College, and Allen County Community College. Beane and Southeast Missouri State won the Ohio Valley Conference Championships and made it to the NCAA Tournament in 2000.
As a member of the basketball team at Three Rivers Community College from two years, Beane and his squad won the 1992 National Championship. Beane earned his bachelor of science from Kansas State in 1994. Beane and the Wildcats made it to the NCAA Tournament in 1993, and competed in the NIT Tournament in 1994. After his collegiate career, Beane played in Europe from 1994-95.
