Jeffrey Langenstein is in his third season as an assistant coach for the Lindenwood gymnastics team in 2019.
In his first season at Lindenwood, Langenstein was a part of a program that won its third straight MIC Championship and finished third at the USA Gymnastics Women’s Collegiate National Championships. He specialized on the team’s vault and floor routines throughout the year, and helped the team have the highest RQS score in program history on the vault, and the second-highest on the floor.
Langenstein helped two gymnasts earn all-MIC on the vault and one earned all-MIC on the floor. Three gymnastics earned USA Gymnastics All-American honors on the vault, and five earned that honor on the floor. He also helped Kierstin Sokolowski advanced to the NCAA Regionals on the vault.
Langenstein comes to Lindenwood after coaching two seasons at the University of the California. In 2016, he led the Golden Bears to their highest finish in team history when they advanced to the NCAA National Championships and finished seventh. He assisted with the team’s vault, bars, and floor exercises. The team’s vault finished ninth nationally, and the floor was 11th. California set a program record with a score of 197.500 during the season.
In his first season at California, the Golden Bears finished 18th in the nation. He assisted primarily with the vault and floor that season, and both units finished in the top-20 nationally. California set a team record with a regional score of 196.000.
Among the gymnasts he coached at California was Toni-Ann Williams, a 2016 Olympian for Jamaica. Williams was the 2015 and 2016 West Region Gymnasts of the Year, and a 2016 Pac-12 floor champion.
Langenstein has also helped coach at Head Over Heels Athletic Arts in Emeryville, Calif. He assisted numerous athletes to state, regional, and national titles, and worked with many top commits to Pac-12 programs.
Langenstein was a member of the California men’s team from 2010-2014. He specialized on the floor, still rings, vault, and parallel bars. He helped the team to four NCAA National Championship appearances, and the program finished fourth in 2011 and 2012. Langenstein qualified individually for the NCAA semifinals multiple times on the floor and vault.
Langenstein graduated from California with a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies.
