The Lindenwood University Men's and Women's track and field teams were both victorious at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championships, held at Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa.
Lindenwood's men dominated the meet, scoring 302.50 points over second place MidAmerica Nazarene who scored 86.50. The women were also victorious, scoring 215.50 points over MidAmerica Nazarene's 175.
Freshman Latoya Heath was awarded female athlete of the meet honors for her victory in the triple jump in a new school record of 40-8.25, victory in the 55 meter hurdles, and runner-up finish in the long jump. Freshman Anna-Kay Campbell scored the most points of any athlete in the meet, scoring 38 points with victories in the 200 meter dash, long jump, high jump, and a runner-up finish in the 55 meter dash.
Junior Mike Rodgers was awarded co-athlete of the meet honors, along with Brett Weir of Baker University. Rodgers won the 55 meter dash and the 200 meter dash. Senior Chris Terry scored the most points of any male athlete in the meet, 22, with a victory in the 3000 meter run, and third place finishes in the mile and 5000 meter run.
The men tallied a total of 15 victories over the course of the two day meet. The men were victorious in the 55 meter dash, 200 meter dash, 400 meter dash, 600 meter run, 800 meter run, mile run, 3000 meter run, 5000 meter run, long jump, pole vault, triple jump, shot put, weight throw, 4x400 meter relay and distance medley relay. The event was won by junior Stuart McIntosh who set a new school record of 16-4.75.
The women were victorious in 10 events: the 55 meter dash, 200 meter dash, 600 meter run, 1000 meter run, 1600 meter race walk, 55 meter hurdles, high jump, long jump, pole vault and triple jump. In addition to Heath's school record in the triple jump, another school record was set by pole vault winner Erin Shafer, who won the event with a mark of 12-0.
