The Lindenwood wrestling team continued its string of tough early season tournaments when it competed in the Iowa State Open on Saturday. Four Lions placed and four others just missed out by one match.

Two-time All-American Sam Schmitz made his season debut at the meet and had the highest team finish. He advanced to the finals of the 149 pound weight class before falling with a runner-up showing.

Lindenwood's top class on the day was at 157 pounds where two Lions placed. Tim McGoldrick was fourth and Jake Johnson came in the fifth. The fourth placewinner was Chris Chionuma at 165 pounds who finished sixth.

Wilson Metelus (141), Josh Fiorito (141), Josh Dix (149) and Rob Hicklin (174) all finished the tournament just short of placing at the NCAA Division I competition.
