The Lindenwood women's ice hockey team capped a successful weekend with a come from behind win against the University of Colorado, Sunday afternoon, winning 4-2.
Trailing 1-0 entering the second period,
Mandy Dion scored to even the game midway through the frame. Colorado would score moments later to retake the lead. With less than a minute remaining in the period,
Brett Lobreau scored to tie the game at two.
In the third, Dion would score once again and
Janella Brodett would add an insurance goal in the final five minutes to cap the scoring.
Rebecca Bernet stopped 13 of 15 shots to earn the win in goal.
On Saturday, Lindenwood raced out to three goal lead against Colorado and never looked back, winning 11-1, Saturday evening. The Lady Lions, who are playing for the third time in three days, scored six goals in the final period.
Alexandra Johansson netted a hat trick and Brodett and
Miranda Schrock each had a pair of goals to led the Lady Lions. Schrock's first goal was of the shorthand variety. In all, seven different players scored for Lindenwood who led 5-1 going into the final period before exploding for six scores.
Bernet stopped 12 of 13 shots to earn the victory in goal.
Lindenwood (14-1-1, 8-0), who won four games this week, will return to action on December 5 against Robert Morris.
