It was a dominating performance for the Lindenwood men's tennis team on Monday night against Maryville University. The Lions swept the match 9-0 and only surrendered a total of five games in both singles and doubles.
On the doubles side the Lions swept the Saints led by
Caio Claudino and
Rodrigo Traldi beat Jonas Skold and Andy Tipton 8-2 as did
Mario Cal and Stephane Dal Soglic against Matt Murray and Tyler Saxton. In the final match of doubles
Gauthier Schilling and
Renzo Lau of Lindenwood beat Ryan Williams and Dino Kanic 8-1.
The singles were much of the same for the Lions, winning all six matches and every game but one. Traldi, Schilling, Lau, Dal Soglic and Costa all won their matches 6-0, 6-0. Claudino was the only one to drop a game but still won 6-1, 6-0.
The win was the first dual-match victory for the Lions this year and are now 1-0. Up next is a home match against McKendree on Wednesday night at 4:00 p.m.
