The Lindenwood women's ice hockey team captured the Colorado Invitational championship with a 5-2 win over the University of Minnesota Sunday morning.
Trailing 1-0 late in the first period,
Mandy Dion found the back of the net to tie it up going into the second. The Lady Lions would break the game wide open in the middle period.
Alexandra Johansson scored on a power play opportunity and
Sarah Oliphant scored shortly after to push the lead to 3-1.
Minnesota answered back with a goal of its own, but Dion scored twice in the final 6:18 of the period to secure the win and complete the third hat trick of the weekend for Lindenwood.
Rebecca Bernet stopped 24 of 26 shots to pick up the win in goal.
The championship win capped a weekend that saw the Lady Lions outscore their five opponents by a combined 43-5 score.
The women advanced to the championship game with an 11-1 victory over Colorado State late Saturday night.
For the second time in as many days, Lindenwood dismantled the Rams as eight different Lady Lions scored.
Ashley Rebeck led the offensive attack with a hat trick and Oliphant added a pair of goals and three assists.

Earlier Saturday night, Lindenwood staged a late rally to up end Minnesota 3-2 to secure a 3-0 record in pool play, and the No. 1 seed in the single elimination bracket.
The Lady Lions would lead 1-0 after the first period on a
Janella Brodett goal. Minnesota scored twice in the second to take a 2-1 lead into the third. Lobreau tied the game at the 3:26 mark with a power play score, and seconds later, Dion scored the game winner to cap the comeback.
Bernet earned the win in goal, stopping 22 of 25 shots.
On Friday Lindenwood posted a pair of shutout wins in pool play over host Colorado, and Colorado State.
The Lady Lions opened the day with an 11-0 win over the host Buffaloes. Six different Lady Lions scored in the contest led by
Erica Wynn and Oliphant who each finished with a hat trick. Rebeck added two scores in the win as well.
Bernet earned her third straight shutout and fourth in the last seven games. She now has eight on the season, leaving her one shy of her school-record nine she set back in 2007-2008.
In game two against Colorado State, the Lady Lions ran away from the Rams, winning 13-0.
Lisa Moreau, Dion, and Wynn each finished with pair of goals to lead Lindenwood. Brodett and
Christy Mason both had three assists apiece.
Stock made her Lindenwood debut in goal, stopping all 10 shots she faced. On the season, Lindenwood has 10 shutouts.
In the latest ACHA poll that was released Friday afternoon, the Lady Lions earned all nine possible first -place votes to remain atop the polls for the third time this season.
Lindenwood (29-2-1, 8-0) will host arch rival Robert Morris next weekend in a pair of matchups of two top ACHA teams.
