The No. 18 Lindenwood men's soccer team travelled to Atchison, Kan. to take on conference foe Benedictine and fell to the Ravens 2-1.
The game began with both teams playing a very aggressive defensive style game. But the home team finally broke through in the 35th minute. Casey Smith would score to give the Ravens a 1-0 lead. Just seven minutes later Benedictine added another tally when Matt Scheipeter slipped one pass Lindenwood goalie Victor Francoz.
The game would go into half with the Ravens holding on to the 2-0 lead. As the clock ticked away Lindenwood finally got on the scoreboard in the 76th minute when Hannes Backstrom scored to cut the lead to one.Lindenwood was unable to get the equalizer and would fall to the Ravens 2-1.
With the loss the Lions drop to 10-4 overall and 3-2 in conference play and will get a week off until next Saturday when they travel to Baker to take on the Wildcats.
