Kyley Engstrom sparked the Lindenwood women's ice hockey team to a 3-2 win over Michigan Sunday afternoon at the Lindenwood Ice Arena.
After a scoreless first period, Engstrom opened the scoring for the Lady Lions minutes into the second with her third tally of the season. The score would remain 1-0 early into the third when Engstrom lit the lamp again with another score.
The Wolverines responded with a goal of their own, but
Krystal Martin scored her second goal in as many days late in the frame to extend the lead to 3-1. Michigan netted a power play goal in the closing minutes to complete the scoring.
Kayla Canning posted 18 saves, and
Erica Wynn had a pair of assists. The Lady Lions out shot the Wolverines 32-20.
Lindenwood posted a 5-0 shutout win over Michigan Saturday night.
Christy Mason gave the Lady Lions a 1-0 lead after the first period with her first tally of the season. In the second, Wynn and
Shea Crawford found the back of the net to push the lead to 3-0. Martin and
Miranda Schrock both scored in the final frame to cap the scoring.
Rebecca Bernet stopped all 11 shots she faced to earn the win in goal, and
Deven Staiger recorded a pair of assists.
Lindenwood (9-1-1) will compete in the ACHA Showcase next weekend in Chicago, Ill.
