Men's Soccer Defeats Graceland 2-1 in Opening Round of HAAC Tournament

The Lindenwood Lions men's soccer team advanced to the second round of the HAAC Tournament on Tuesday afternoon with a 2-1 win over visiting Graceland University.

Lindenwood got on the scoreboard quickly just four minutes into the game. Naser Mustafic would ricochet a shot off the leg of a Graceland defender and it would end up in the net. Graceland would battle back and tie the score up in the 26th minute. The contest would stay tied at one heading into the half.

Once again the Lions would strike quickly scoring eight minutes into the final half. Rodney Mays picked a great time to score his first goal of the season and it gave the home team a 2-1 lead.

With time dwindling down Graceland would put a ton of pressure on the Lions defense. The Yellowjackets nearly tied the score in the final minute but Graceland would hit the crossbar and the Lions would survive.

Victor Francoz started in the net for the Lions stopping five shots.

Up next for the Lions is the semifinals of the HAAC Tournament when the team will travel to the top seed, William Jewell, on Thursday night.
