Storyline
This week the Lindenwood Lady Lions will play their final two home games of the 2009-10 season and will be trying to claw their way back into contention for the HAAC postseason tournament.
As of right now the Lady Lions sit in ninth place 1.5 games behind Missouri Valley for the final spot.
First up for the Lady Lions will be the Central Methodist Lady Eagles who are on the outside looking in at the HAAC tournament as well. This will be the second match up of the season between these two teams, the Lady Eagles were victorious in the first game.
Lindenwood will wrap up their home portion of the schedule against the visiting MidAmerica Nazarene Pioneers. The Pioneers are in sixth place and playing for position in the HAAC tournament.
Last Week
One week ago the Lady Lions went 0-3 but were just a few points from going 3-0.
The first game of the week was a nine point loss at home to the Missouri Valley Vikings. This game was the biggest margin the team would lose by. Both
Cassie Williams and
Christina Edwards recorded double-doubles in the loss.
For the next two games the team would be on the road. First up was a trip to Lamoni, Iowa where they took on the Graceland Yellowjackets. For the second time this season the teams needed extra time. This time the Yellowjackets were victorious, 80-78.
Gina Ferrer led the way scoring a game-high 20 points.
To close out the week the squad traveled to Avila. Abby Schultenhenrich scored 21 points but it wasn't enough as they fell, 64-60.
Senior Leadership
Senior
Cassie Williams is leading the Lady Lions in several categories. She leads the team in total steals (54), total assists (86), minutes played per game (30.4), blocks (13), and total rebounds (189). She is third on the team in rebounds per game (7.6) and scoring (8.7). She has also led the team in assists in 14 contests, blocks in 10 games and leads the team with eight, 10+ rebound games.
Getting To The Stripe
On the season the team has not had any trouble getting to the charity stripe. They have attempted at least 20 free throws in all but six games. Compared to their opponents, they have taken 141 more than their opponents. The team's total of 618 is the most in the HAAC.

Christina Edwards has made the most (89).
Home Record
A year ago the 2008-09 team won six games at the Hyland Performance Arena. This season the 2009-10 team can tie that mark with a pair of wins against Central Methodist and MidAmerica Nazarene.
Team of Thieves
Lindenwood has recorded 270 steals, good for over 10 a game which is the fourth most among HAAC schools and the 29th most in all of the NAIA. Every player has recorded at least one, seven have double-digits and five have compiled at least 20. The 270 steals is nine more than their opponents and the total is the second most in the conference. Earlier in the season against Tabor, the Lady Lions tallied 19 thefts. The team's season high is 21 against Olivet Nazarene.
Edwards Is Back
After starting off the season on fire, teams really concentrated on shutting down
Christina Edwards. After averaging under ten points for a stretch of five games, she has now scored in double digits three games in a row. In two of three games last week she recorded double-doubles.
The Magic Number
When the Lady Lions' defense only surrenders 60 points or less the team is 3-0. The best defensive effort came against Tabor College when the team only allowed 28 points.
Career Night For Adams
Lady Lions point guard
Sade Adams filled up the stat sheet against Avila. The senior from St. Louis recorded career-highs in points (18), three-pointers (2), free throws (6), rebounds (8), and assists (7). Over the last two games she has also taken care of the basketball. During that span she has averaged 6.5 points compared to just three turnovers.
Three Point Shooting
Three point shooting has been a key to Lady Lion victories this season. In the team's seven wins they have averaged six made three pointers.
Abby In Double Figures
In the Lady Lions' seven wins the season, Abby Schultenhenrich has scored in double figures in all but one game. In the seven wins, the junior from St. Charles is averaging just over ten points a night.
Scouting Central Methodist
The Central Methodist Lady Eagles come into the game with an overall record of 9-18 and a conference mark of 3-14. The team has lost their last six games in a row and will look to snap their losing streak against the Lady Lions.
Leading the way for the Lady Eagles is Sami Dunger. The sophomore from St. Louis is leading the team in scoring with over 14 points a game. Her scoring average ranks her 47th in the country and she is also ninth in the NAIA with 65 three-pointers made. Helping Dunger is senior Brittany Elliot, who averages just over 11 points a night.
Andrea Brooks enters her fourth season at the helm of the Central Methodist women's basketball program. Brooks returned to mid-Missouri in 2006 after seven years of state-jumping during her playing days and early coaching career.
Scouting MidAmerica
The MidAmerica Nazarene Pioneers have compiled an overall record of 15-11 and a conference mark of 10-6. The Pioneers have won their last three games and are 5-3 on the road during HAAC play.
Leading the way for the Pioneers is one of the best players in the conference. Bethany Rexroth leads the team with an average of 19.27 points a game. She ranks eighth in scoring, fifth in blocks (81), and third in field goal percentage (.60) in the NAIA. The senior is coming off her second National Player of the Week award after she scored a school record 43 points against Graceland.
Coach Olin is nearing the end of his 11th year at MNU and 30th overall. Olin announced his retirement effective at the end of the 2010 season.
Last Time
The last time the Lady Lions took on Central Methodist the Lady Eagles got their first HAAC win in the game. After a very sloppy first half the Lady Lions trailed by one. Central Methodist would lead throughout the whole second half and would win the game, 65-58. In the loss Lindenwood had three players score in double figures led by Christina Edward's 18.
The first time the Lady Lions met the Pioneers, the opening half might have been the worst the team has played all season. They could only muster 17 first half points and fell, 78-50.
Christina Edwards led the Lady Lions with 11 points. Lindenwood shot only 29 percent from the field and 11 percent from behind the arc.
Up Next
It is the final week of the season for the Lady Lions as they will travel to McKendree to take on the nationally ranked Bearcats and end the season in Liberty, Missouri battling the William Jewell Cardinals.
