The Lindenwood men's tennis team beat NCAA Division II, University of Illinois-Springfield 7-2 on the road in Springfield on Friday afternoon.
Illinois-Springfield won two out of the three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead heading into the singles portion of the competition.
The singles matches were a completely different story. Lindenwood dominated, winning all six of the singles, while only losing one set.
Rodrigo Traldi started the singles off with a 6-4, 6-1 win followed up by teammate Gauthier Schilling's dominating 6-2, 6-0 win. Renzo Lau, Mario Cal and Stefan Hernandez also won in straight sets. The only Lion to lose a set was Stephane Dal Soglio but won the tiebreak to tack on another point for Lindenwood.
Up next for the Lions is another match-up with a NCAA Division II school in Maryville on September 21.
