The Lady Lions hockey team got off to a slow start for the second straight day as it lost to Colgate by an 8-2 score on Saturday afternoon in Hamilton, N.Y.

Colgate scored four times in the first period as the Lady Lions were outshot 21-7. Lindenwood only allowed 23 shots in the final two periods, but Colgate scored one more time in the second period and three times in the third. The Lady Lions took advantage of a game misconduct penalty late in the game to score two power-play goals in the final minutes.

Alyssa West scored the first goal for Lindenwood and added an assist on the second tally. Alison Wickenheiser scored the second goal and Mara Post assisted on the first. Taylor Fairchild made 36 saves in goal. West won 17 faceoffs in 29 attempts.

Lindenwood falls to 0-8 on the season. The Lady Lions are off next week in preparation for their home opener on Oct. 28 versus Mercyhurst.
