The Lindenwood women's ice hockey team fell to Robert Morris on Friday evening by an 8-0 score. The contest was the first for the Lady Lions against a member of College Hockey America.
Robert Morris struck first just a little shy of the seven-minute mark in the first period. It added another goal less than two minutes later. The Colonials then put the game away with four goals in the second period, including one just 19 seconds in. Robert Morris tacked on two more tallies in the final period.
Lindenwood continues to show improvement each time out. The Lady Lions held Robert Morris to 46 shots, the lowest total by an opponent this year. The Colonials were also just one-of-seven on the power play, and the faceoff battles were nearly even.
Offensively, though, the Lady Lions took just 14 shots. Lindenwood also found itself in the penalty box too much with eight penalties for 16 minutes.
Allysson Arcibal had a team-high four shots, while
Alyssa West and
Kendra Ganchar each had three.
Megan Cox,
Erica Wynn, and
Katie Erickson all had two blocks.
Kendra Broad,
Sarah Oliphant, and
Alison Wickenheiser were above .500 on faceoffs.
Lindenwood falls to 0-5-0 in its inaugural NCAA season. The two teams will be in action again on Saturday afternoon in Moon Township, Pa.
