The Lindenwood women's volleyball team dropped a close one on Tuesday night in Rolla, Mo. with a 3-2 setback against Missouri S&T. The Lady Miners won by scores of 23-25, 25-16, 25-14, 23-25, and 15-10.
After splitting the first four sets, Missouri S&T jumped out to a big lead in the deciding fifth set. The Lady Miners scored the first four points and then back-to-back services aces game them a 7-1 advantage. Lindenwood never got closer than 7-3 as Missouri S&T closed the game out.
Lindenwood could not cool off the Lady Miners' hitters during the match. Missouri S&T hit .273 as a team and had just seven unforced hitting errors during the entire match. The Lady Lions hit .167 and had 19 unforced errors.
Erin Anselman was the offensive leader with 16 kills and a .343 hitting percentage.
Ellen Fandry and
Kristy Dreisewerd also had double-figure kills.
Emma Brydels had 26 assists and
Kelsey Biggs recorded 23.
Defensively, Dreisewerd had a team-high five blocks and
Kaila Schrimpf led with 23 digs. Brydles, Fandry, Biggs, and Patsy Erb all finished with over 10 digs.
Lindenwood falls to 22-13 on the season. The team travels to Missouri Baptist for a match on Thursday night against the nationally-ranked NAIA program.
