The Lindenwood wrestling team competed at the University of Central Missouri Open on Sunday. The Lions were up against some tough competition with several NCAA and NAIA programs in attendance.
Leading the way for the Lions was
Omar Maknassi who finished 5-2 on the day in the 133 pound weight class. Blayne Schockley and
Austin Garza finished with 3-2 records in their respective weight classes.
Shockley made it to the semi-finals of the 125 pound weight class, winning most of his matches by major decisions. Garza was also successful as he finished with two wins by decision and one fall. Other Lions finished with 2-2 records including
Hector Calderon and
Daniel Breit, who recorded two major decisions in his 165 pound weight class.
The Lindenwood wrestling team will compete Saturday Nov. 19, as they host the Tocco Law & Family Joe Parisi Open. The meet is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
