Lady Lions Set to Play Final Two Regular Season Road Games of the Season

Storyline
The 2010-11 regular season is quickly coming to an end and the Lady Lions are trying to position themselves for a high seed in the HAAC Tournament. Lindenwood will embark on its last regular season road trip of the season this week.
    
Lindenwood has compiled a record of 8-5 on the road this season and will start this week's road trip with a game in Fayette, Mo. against the Central Methodist Eagles.

To wrap up the road portion of the schedule, the Lady Lions will travel to Olathe, Kan. to take on the MidAmerica Nazarene Pioneers. The Pioneers sit in seventh-place at the beginning of the week and the team will be trying to stay in the top eight, to ensure themselves a spot in the HAAC Tournament.

At the start of the week, the Lady Lions sit in second place all by themselves holding a 2.5 game lead over third-place Avila. 

Last Time Out
Last week, the Lady Lions continued to roll going 3-0 against Missouri Valley, Graceland, and Avila.

To begin the week, Lindenwood traveled to Missouri Valley and upended the Vikings 74-39. Three Lady Lions scored in double figures led by Christina Edwards' 13 points. Kelly Albers recorded a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds, and Cassie Bluemner scored 10.

Graceland was the Lady Lions' next opponent and Lindenwood had to come from behind to beat the Yellowjackets 62-58. Sarah Schnieders led the way for the team scoring 17 points.

To wrap up the three-game stretch, the Lady Lions had a key match-up against Avila, who trailed the Lady Lions by just one loss in the standings. Lindenwood won the game 61-45 after stifling the Eagles' offense. Morgan Harrington scored 14 points and Sarah Schnieders pitched in with 12.

NAIA National Tourney
     
 With the regular season coming to an end many teams in the country are positioning themselves for a bid to the NAIA National Tournament. The HAAC will receive two automatic bids. The first comes from the regular-season champion and the second comes from the HAAC Tournament champion. If the winner is the same, the team that finished second in the regular season will receive a bid to the national tourney.

Winning Games
The team's 18 wins are the most from a Lady Lion squad since the 2000-01 team won 20 games. This year's team is three wins away from moving into fifth all-time at Lindenwood for wins in a season. The record is 30 wins held by the 1999-2000 team.

Shooting the Rock
Lindenwood is shooting .430 from the field which ranks them third in the conference and 29th in the country. If the team continues on this pace, the percentage will be the fourth highest in program history. The best shooting team in school history was the 1992-93 team, which shot over 46 percent.

Charity Stripe
Over the last 13 games the Lady Lions have shot 76 percent from the free throw line. The lowest percentage in those 13 contest was 62 percent.

On the season, the Lady Lions are shooting 71 percent as a team. If the Lady Lions stay on this pace the percentage will rank as the third best in school history.

Lock Down Defense
The Lady Lions' defense continues to move up the rankings in numerous defensive categories. The team is giving up just 60.1 points a games which ranks the team second in the HAAC and 25th in the country. The Lady Lions are also holding opponents to just 36 percent shooting from the field which is tops in the  conference.

During the team's current five-game winning-streak, the Lady Lions have given up just 49 points a game.

Road Wins
Coming into this week's final road trip of the season, the Lady Lions have won eight games away from St. Charles. The eight wins is the most since the 1999-2000 team won nine.

Dominating The Boards
Rebounding has been one of the strongest parts of the Lady Lions' game this season. Three times the team has compiled more than 60 rebounds in a game and has outrebounded its opponents in all but five games.

The team is 15th in the country with a rebounding margin of +8.2. The Lady Lions are also first in the HAAC in rebounding margin, offensive rebounds a game (14), defensive rebounds a game (26), and total rebounds per game (40).

Second Place
If the Lady Lions can win one of the their last three games, the team will clinch second place in the HAAC. That means the Lady Lions would host a first round game in the HAAC Tournament.

Scoring Is Tops

The Lady Lions are averaging 69.2 points a game, which is tops in the HAAC. When Lindenwood reaches its scoring average the team is 11-0.

If the team can keep its current scoring average through the end of the year, it will be the third highest average in the history of the program. The 2004-05 team holds the highest scoring average with 69.9 points.

Home Court Advantage
Lindenwood has compiled a record of 9-3 in twelve games this season at the Hyland Arena. The Lady Lions program has not finished above .500 at home since the 2008-09 season. 

Scouting The Eagles
Central Methodist has an overall record of 4-23 and a conference mark of 2-15. The Eagles have dropped the last 12 of 13 games.

The Eagles are the lowest scoring team in the HAAC with an average of 53.5 points. The defense surrenders 62.6 points a game.

Leading the way offensively is Sami Dunger. The junior is averaging 10.6 points a game and recently became the 14th player in Central Methodist history to score 1,000 points. 

The Eagles are led by co-head coaches, Andi and Michael Brooks.

Scouting The Pioneers
The MidAmerica Nazarene Pioneers have an overall record of 9-17 and HAAC mark of 7-9. The Pioneers sit in seventh place in the HAAC and will be trying to stay in the top eight to ensure they receive a bid to the postseason tournament. Before taking on the Lady Lions the Pioneers will take on Evangel.

The Pioneers are the second lowest scoring team in HAAC with 59.7 points a game.
Leading the way offensively is Kiley Herold. She is averaging 11.4 points a game and 6.7 rebounds.

Karen Lange is in her first season as the head coach of the Pioneers. 

Last Time
This will be the second time the Lady Lions have played these two teams, and have a record of 2-0.
In the first game against Central Methodist the Lady Lions won 66-53. Against the Pioneers, Lindenwood won 69-51. Morgan Harrington scored 17 points in each game and Kelly Albers averaged 14.

Up Next
 After the final road trip of the season the Lady Lions will have a week off until they return home to end the regular-season against the William Jewell Cardinals. After William Jewell, the Lady Lions will be getting prepared for the HAAC Tournament.
