Special teams continue to haunt the 2011-12 Lindenwood women's ice hockey team. The Lady Lions and Bethel both scored two even-strength goals, but the Royals scored three more power-play goals in a 6-3 victory over Lindenwood.
Both teams scored twice in the first period, but Bethel scored four unanswered goals after that. Bethel was four-of-five on power plays, while the Lady Lions were just one-of-six. Lindenwood outshot the Royals by a 47-35 margin and won 42 faceoffs, compared to 36 for Bethel. The 47 shots were a season-high for the Lady Lions.
Caitlyn Post scored twice for Lindenwood and
Kendra Broad had one goal and one assist.
Jordyn Constance had a good line with an assist, a +1 rating, and she won all 11 faceoffs she took.
Megan Cox and Broad also finished the game with a positive plus-minus.
Alyssa West had two assists and
Alison Wickenheiser had one.
The two teams will be in action again on Saturday afternoon at the Bethel University Arena in Blaine, Minn.
