The Lindenwood wrestling team competed at the Missouri Valley Invitational this weekend in Marshall, Mo. The Lions had several athletes that finished as the top seeds of their respective weight classes.
Daniel Breit had the best outing for the Lions as he made it to the finals of the 157-pound weight class. Breit fell to the No. 1 seed of his class by a 6-3 decision to take second. In the 125-pound weight class, Blayne Shockley made it to the semifinals only to lose by major decision 14-4. However, Shockley was able to come back and place fifth with a pin-fall over a Vikings wrestler.
Jacob Janes also placed fifth in his respective weight class where he competed in the wrestleback to win by a 4-3 decision. Lindenwood also had two wrestlers competing in the 149-pound weight class with both Lions placing.
Cullen Halpin lost his opening match but competed in the wrestleback where he recorded a fourth place finish in the division.
Chris Sanders was also in the wrestleback but finished in seventh place after winning his final match by a 6-3 decision.
The Lindenwood wrestling team will be back in action as it travels to Dalton, Ga., for the NCWA National Duals on Jan. 28-29. The event is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
