The Lindenwood women's hockey team showed what a difference a year makes during Friday's game at the Lindenwood Ice Arena against No. 3 Wisconsin. The Lady Lions scored the first two goals of the games against the NCAA powerhouse Badgers and were tied after one period. Wisconsin wore Lindenwood down as the game went on though and the Lady Lions fell by a 7-2 margin.

Lindenwood shocked Wisconsin by scoring twice in a 32-second span early in the first period. Kendra Broad scored the first goal with an assist from Brett Lobreau. Allysson Arcibal also scored her first goal of the season with an assist going to Alison Wickenheiser.

The Lady Lions held the lead for nearly 12 minutes. Wisconsin got on the scoreboard for the first time at the 11:54 mark and tied the game with a goal with less than five minutes remaining in the first period. Wisconsin outshot Lindenwood by just three shots in the period and the two teams were tied at two.

In the final two periods, penalties and power plays continued to haunt the Lady Lions. Wisconsin scored three times in the second period with two power-play goals and a penalty shot goal. The Badgers then added two more power-play goals in the third period.

Wisconsin ended the game with a 41-22 edge in shots on goal, including a 19-8 margin in the final period. Wisconsin was four-of-seven on the power play while the Lady Lions were 0-for-four.

Nicole Hensley made 34 saves for Lindenwood. She stopped last year's NCAA Player of the Year Brianna Decker seven times, but Decker got the best of her three times to lead Wisconsin's offense.

Lindenwood falls to 0-3-0 on the season. The Lady Lions and Badgers will face each other again on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Lindenwood Ice Arena.
