Women's Hockey Falls To No. 3 Wisconsin By 9-1 Score

Box Score The Lindenwood women's ice hockey team struggled during its second contest in less than 24 hours against the No. 3 team in the country. The Wisconsin Badgers defeated the Lady Lions by a 9-1 score on Saturday at the Lindenwood Ice Arena.

Wisconsin controlled play more than the night before and finished with a 56-17 edge in shots on goal. The Badgers scored three times in each period.

The top bright spot for Lindenwood was that it cleaned up its special teams play. The Lady Lions committed just four penalties and did not allow a power-play goal. In the second period, Lindenwood scored its only goal on a power play. The Lady Lions had a five-on-three advantage for 29 seconds. Right as the two-man advantage expired, Alyssa West scored her first goal of the season, with assists from Alison Wickenheiser and Chloe Williams.

Taylor Fairchild started her first game of the season in goal and made 41 saves in nearly 49 minutes. Nicole Hensley finished the contest and made six saves without allowing a goal in the final 11-plus minutes. West and Wickenheiser each had four shots on goal to lead Lindenwood, and Brett Lobreau recorded a team-high three blocks.

Lindenwood, which is now 0-4-0, goes on the road next week to face another WCHA opponent in Minnesota State.
