The Lindenwood men's wrestling team competed at the Missouri Valley Open this Sunday in Marshall, Mo.
Blayne Shockely competed in the 125 pound weight class where he finished 2-2 making his way up through the wrestleback. After winning by pinfall, Shockely lost by decision to Alex Peitz of Grand View. Other Lion wrestlers included
Christian Averill,
Cullen Halpin and Daniel Breitt. They all went 1-2 in their respective weight classes.
The Lions also had a pair of wrestlers go 3-2 on the day concluding their meets in the wrestleback.
Michael Caldwell wrestled in the 133 pound weight class and won two matches pinfall and one by decision.
Simon Pineiro had identical finishes during his matches.
Jacob Janes had the best outing in the 141 pound weight class where he fell in the semifinals by pin. However Janes was able to wrestleback through consolation and take fifth place in the division. He finished 4-2 on the day.
The men's wrestling team will host Missouri Baptist this Wednesday at the Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Mo. Meet time is set to begin at 7 p.m.
