The Lindenwood tennis team split with Arkansas-Fort Smith this Saturday afternoon as the men's team defeated the Lions by a 7-2 margin while the Lady Lions were shut out 9-0.
The women's team were only able to take set off Arkansas-Fort Smith in four of the six matches.
Mariona Pinol took a set off her opponent in the No. 2 match and
Sarah Sharpe took one in the No. 4 match while
Shreeja Karki and Julianna Sutton each recorded a set in the final contests.
Doubles competition was better for the Lindenwood Lady Lions as they won two sets in their contests. The team of
Rachel Bailey and Sharpe took two sets in their match with
Lindsey Wolfgang and Karki also took a set off their competition. Unfortunately the Lady Lions were unable to take advantage and lost 8-2 in both contests.
The Lions had a successful weekend as they defeated Arkansas-Fort Smith by a 7-2 score going 2-1 in the doubles division and 5-1 in singles. For doubles, the team of
Eric Tucoulou and Renato Traldi won their match 8-4 while
Gauthier Schilling and
Rahul Sadhwani won by identical scores.
In the singles division, Traldi won his contest 6-0, 6-4 in the No. 2 match, Schilling had a 6-4, 6-1 victory in the No. 3 match and Sadhwani won in a closely contested battle with scores of 7-5, 3-6 and 13-11. The final contests were Juan Vincenzio winning 6-2, 6-4 and
Otavio Costa winning 6-1, 7-5 in the No. 6 match.
Lindenwood tennis will host Johnson Community College Wednesday, March 14 in St. Charles, Mo. The contest will begin at 3 p.m.
