Lindenwood Tennis Starts Spring Schedule

The men's and women's tennis team started the second half of their season Saturday with a contest against the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats. The men's team lost 7-2 while the women's team were shut out by a 9-0 score.

Both teams competed in singles as well as doubles competition. On the men's side, Eric Tucoulou and Gauthier Schilling fell to their opponents by a 6-2, 6-4 score. The lone victory came from Nicolas Vettard who posted a 6-4, 6-1 win over the Bearcat. Vettard was also successful in doubles competition as he teamed with Tucoulou and recorded an 8-6 tally for the only win in that division.

The Lady Lions were blanked during their contest with Adela Slovakova starting off the match falling to a 6-1, 6-2 score. Brigette Bustamante lost the No. 3 match by a 6-0, 6-1 finish while three other Lady Lions fell to Bearcats with identical scores of 6-1, 6-0. In doubles competition, Slovakova and Mariona Pinol lost the No. 1 match by an 8-3 and Bustamante and Shreeja Karki also fell to the Bearcats by that score.

The Lindenwood tennis team will be back on the court March 9-10 as the Lady Lions travel to Tahlequah, Okla., to take on Northeastern State while the men's team travels to Fort Smith, Ark., to take on Arkansas Forth Smith. Start time for the women is 3 p.m. and the men is set for 10 a.m.
