The Lindenwood women's gymnastics team competed in its second meet on Friday evening at conference foe Illinois State University. The Lady Lions finished the competition with an overall score 187.800, falling to host school Illinois State (190.850).
Lindenwood stayed relatively consistent on the evening, keeping all four event scores between a 46.725 and a 47.050. The Lady Lions recorded the highest team score on the floor exercise.
Rachel Zabawa and
Courtney Heise both turned in scores of 9.550 in the floor exercise to lead the Lady Lions in that event.
Alicia Floyd recorded a score of 9.500 while
Lauren Cartmell and
Emily Turik each scored a 9.225. Lindenwood scored .025 higher in the floor exercise than the Redbirds.
Turik recorded the team's highest score on the uneven parallel bars. She earned a 9.800 , making that the second best score of the evening on that event.
For the second straight meet, Floyd led the Lady Lions in the all-around, recording a season-high 37.350. Along with the floor exercise, Floyd recorded a team-high 9.500 in the vault.
Illinois State's strongest event for the evening proved to be on bars as the Redbirds recorded a 48.675. Jenna Bossle captured the evening's highest score in an event with a 9.875 on the bars.
Lindenwood falls to 0-3 in the young season as they are set to host Southeast Missouri on Friday, January 18 at Hyland Arena. The competition will begin at 6 p.m.
