Box Score The Lindenwood women's ice hockey team saw almost 19 minutes of scoreless action before the Minnesota State Mavericks scored its first of many en route to a 6-0 victory over the Lady Lions on Wednesday afternoon.
The first period remained even between to the two squads until the goal at 18:48, as both teams recorded 13 shots on goal.
Momentum from the goal late in the first period for Minnesota State carried over into the second period as the Mavericks scored four times, including three from Kathleen Rogan. Lindenwood was held to just six shots in the period.
Minnesota State scored its final goal of the contest just over halfway through the third period. Penalties plagued both teams in the third as Minnesota State recorded four out of its six penalties and Lindenwood recorded two out of its three penalties in the final three minutes of the game.
Alison Wickenheiser led the Lady Lions offensively with eight shots while
Kendra Broad and
Alyssa West each contributed four apiece.
Minnesota State outshot Lindenwood 38-29 in the game and won 40 out of 59 faceoffs.
Taylor Fairchild recorded 32 saves in the net for the Lady Lions while Minnesota State's Danielle Butters saved all 29 shots she faced.
The Lady Lions fall to 1-16-1 on the season. Lindenwood is set to host North Dakota on January 4 and 5 at the Lindenwood Ice Arena. Friday's contest is set to start at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday's matchup will start at 2:00 p.m.
