Lady Lions Hockey Drops 8-4 Decision On Saturday

Box Score Lindenwood women's hockey ended its series with nationally-ranked North Dakota by falling by an 8-4 score on Saturday afternoon at the Lindenwood Ice Arena.

North Dakota had a big advantage on special teams in the game. Both teams had seven power-play opportunities in the game. North Dakota converted four of them into goals, while the Lady Lions were unable to score. North Dakota had 16 shots on the power play, compared to three for Lindenwood, and North Dakota outshot the Lady Lions 54-28 for the game.

North Dakota scored on its first three power-play attempts which helped it jump out to a 7-1 lead after two periods. Lindenwood keep battling though and outscored North Dakota by a 3-1 margin in the third period.

Lindenwood's four goals in the game was the second-highest total of the season, and the seven goals for the series ties the most goals scored in a series. The first two goals of the game from Lindenwood came from Sarah Oliphant and Katie Erickson. Both goals were the first of the season for those two players. Chelsea Witwicke assisted on the first goal, while Oliphant and Kendra Broad had assists on the second goal. The Triple-A line scored the final two tallies for the Lady Lions. Allysson Arcibal and Alison Wickenheiser both had a goal and an assist, and Alyssa West assisted on both goals.

Nicole Hensley made 46 saves in goal. West finished with a team-high six blocks and was a +3 plus/minus. Megan Cox, Arcibal, and Oliphant were all +2, and Erica Wynn was a +1.

Lindenwood will play all CHA games for the remainder of the regular season. That stretch starts with a road trip next week to Robert Morris.
