Box Score The Lindenwood women's volleyball team beat Fort Hays State 3-2 Friday night at Hyland Arena by scores of 25-23, 26-24 and 29-27.
Kayla Guyot led Lindenwood with 21 kills. Guyot now has had three games with 20+ kills for the Lady Lions.
Emma Brydels set a new personal record in assists with 59 for Lindenwood. If it was blocking at the net or getting kills, when Guyot and Brydels were clicking the Lady Lions were hard to stop.
Lindenwood jumped out of the gate fast in the match's first set by taking an early 16-7 lead. Fort Hays State forced a rally though by diminishing Lindenwood's lead to just one at 24-23. After a Lindenwood timeout, the Lady Lions shut the door as they took set one 25-23.
The score remained close throughout set two as neither squad could manage to take a commanding lead. After being down by as many as three, Fort Hays State clawed its way back by evening the score at 24 each. The Lady Lions bent but did not break as they finished off the match with a service ace by Guyot.
Lindenwood took an early lead in set three by jumping out to an early 9-5 lead against the Tigers. It did not last long though as Fort Hays State quickly tied the set 11-11. The Tigers never lost the lead after this as they went on to win the set 25-21. Fort Hays State led Lindenwood by as many as six at one point.
Fort Hays State looked to not be slowing down in set number four. The set looked to be getting out of hand as the Tigers were dominating the Lions 16-6. However, the Lady Lions had seen enough from the Tigers when they erased the ten point deficit to tie the set 22-22. Fort Hays State was not going to go down without a fight as they took the lead back 25-24. With its backs against the wall, the Lady Lions killed three set points before finally scoring three straight to win the match.

The Lady Lions return to action tomorrow evening when they host Nebraska Kearney (ranked 8th nationally) at 8 p.m. in Hyland Arena. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the match in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month.
