The 3
rd Annual Joe Parisi Open featured more than 500 wrestlers from some of the top programs in the nation on Saturday in St. Charles, Mo. The Open was divided into two divisions this year, the Black Division included wrestlers who are freshman and sophomores, as the Gold Division was the open bracket.
Lindenwood wrestlers had success including freshman
Colton Orlando who took second in his 141 weight class in the Gold Division. Orlando won every match by decision until losing by fall to James Krischke of Missouri.
Kevin Kinney made it to the final four before losing to Krischke and was sent to the consolation bracket. Kinney won both matches in that bracket to take third place in the 141 Gold Division.
Marcos Tamayo placed sixth in his 125 weight class in the Gold Division.
Morgan Fitzgerald finished sixth as well in his 165 weight class in the Black Division.
Two awards were given out on the night. Alex Dieringer from Oklahoma State earned the Most Pins award while Drake Houdashelt from Missouri earned Joe Parisi MVP.
