Box Score The Lindenwood men's basketball team fell to No. 2 Seattle Pacific on Saturday afternoon 72-58 in Anaheim, Calif. at the Disney Division II Tip-Off Classic. Preseason All-American David Downs scored 29 points for the Falcons and was just too much for the Lions.
The game started off well for Lindenwood, scoring the first eight-of-10 points to take an 8-2 lead. Unfortunately, for the Lions that was the last lead the team would see. The Falcons went on an 18-4 run over a 12 minute period to take a commanding 14 point lead. During that long run Downs scored 10 straight points for the Falcons and sent his team into the locker room leading by 15.
Downs did not slow down after the break. He scored 10 of the Falcons first 12 points in the second half and Seattle Pacific led by 20. Lindenwood chipped away at the lead and got it down to 13 points with 4:29 to play. After getting a stop on defense, the Lions came up with two empty possessions to try and cut the lead to 10 but it wasn't meant to be. The Falcons went onto the 14-point win.
Michael Boos led Lindenwood with 15 points on six-of-eight shooting including three-of-five from behind the three-point line.
Garrett Reeg and
Sam Mader each chipped in with 10 points. Mader led the Lions in rebounds with seven.
Lindenwood shot 45 percent from the field and just 29 percent from behind the arc. Seattle Pacific shot 50 percent from the field and 53 percent from long range.
The Lions have dropped their first two games of the season but will be right back in action Sunday night. Lindenwood will take on No. 5 Minnesota State in Anaheim, Calif.
