Women's Hockey Has New Year's Series At Minnesota State

Series Notes
- The Lindenwood women's hockey team will be spending time on New Year's with Minnesota State for the second straight year. This season, the Lady Lions will ring in the New Year's in Mankato, Minn. with a Dec. 31-Jan. 1 series against the Mavericks.

- Lindenwood is currently 2-16-2 on the season, while Minnesota State enters the series with a 6-12-0 overall record.

- The Lady Lions are in fifth place in College Hockey America with a 2-7-1 league mark. The Lakers are in sixth place in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association with a 3-11-0 conference record.

- Lindenwood and Minnesota State have already met twice this year in Wentzville, Mo. The Mavericks swept the series by scores of 7-1 and 3-1.

- In the first game this season, Minnesota State scored five first-period goals, including three in 30 seconds, on its way to the win. Kendra Broad scored the only goal for Lindenwood with an unassisted goal.

- The Mavericks scored once in every period in their game two victory. Alyssa West had Lindenwood's goal with assists from Carrie Atkinson and Saville Pickar.

- Lindenwood was one-for-12 on the power play in the first series with Minnesota State, while the Mavericks were four-of-seven.

- Lindenwood is 0-8-0 all-time against Minnesota State, including a 0-4-0 mark in Mankato, Minn.

- Among active players for Lindenwood, Kendra Broad and Alyssa West have each scored twice against Minnesota State. Katie Erickson has a team-high three assists, and Kendra Broad has four points.

- Nicole Hensley has appeared in five games in goal against Minnesota State. She has made 148 saves and has a .881 save percentage.

A Look Back At Mercyhurst
- Lindenwood was swept in its final series before Christmas. The Lady Lions lost to CHA rival Mercyhurst by scores of 7-1 and 4-1.

- In game one of the series, the Lady Lions were outshot 48-23. Lindenwood allowed two shorthanded, one power play, and one extra-attacker goals.

- Alexis Molotky started her first game in goal as a Lindenwood Lady Lion and made a season-high 41 saves.

- Caitlyn Post scored her second goal of the season in game one, with assists from Alyssa West and Katie Erickson.

- Mercyhurst was two-for-four on the power play in game two of the series and it won by three goals.

- The decision in game two of the series was the least amount of goals allowed by Lindenwood in its series history with Mercyhurst, and also the lowest margin of defeat against the Lakers.

- Katie Erickson scored a power-play goal on a five-on-three in the third period. Chelsea Witwicke and Jordyn Constance assisted on the goal.

Lindenwood Notes
- Katie Erickson is on a four-game point streak with two goals and two assists over the last two series. Only two Lady Lions have longer streaks this year.

- Katie Erickson leads the team with four power-play goals and five power-play points.

- Alyssa West has scored a point in four out of the last five series.

- Kendra Broad leads Lindenwood with nine points. She needs one more point to hit double-figure points for the third season in her career.

- Jocelyn Slattery is the team leader with five goals, and also leads the squad in plus/minus.

- This week's series will feature the two busiest goalies in NCAA Division I. Lindenwood's Nicole Hensley has faced 739 shots this year, the most in the nation. Number two is Minnesota's Danielle Butters with 580 shots faced.

- Lindenwood is allowing 4.0 goals a game in the first game of a series this year, compared to 3.4 goals in game two of the series.

- The series with Minnesota State will be the last non-conference series of the regular season for Lindenwood. The Lady Lions are 0-9-1 in non-conference games this year, all against members of the CHA.

- Lindenwood will look to get off to quicker starts the rest of the season. The Lady Lions are being outscored 27-4 in the first period. They are 3-43-0 all-time when trailing after the first period.

- The Lady Lions are allowing 4.0 goals a game on the road, compared to 3.4 goals a game at home.

College Hockey America Notes
- One CHA team, Robert Morris, is nationally-ranked. The Colonials are No. 10 in both national polls. Mercyhurst is receiving votes in both polls.

- Robert Morris currently leads the CHA with an 8-1-1 record. It is followed by Mercyhurst with a 7-2-1 mark.

- The reigning CHA Players of the Week are: Mercyhurst's Emily Juniga (Player of the Week), Mercyhurst's Amanda Makela (Goalie of the Week), and Mercyhurst's Jillian Skinner (Rookie of the Week).

About Minnesota State
- The Mavericks have struggled since their series in Wentzville, going just 3-9-0.

- Minnesota State is 1-12-0 when scoring two or less goals, and 5-0-0 when scoring three or more goals.

- The Mavericks are among the nation's leaders by scoring on 18.2 percent of their power plays. They are allowing power-play goals though 23.5 percent of the time.

- Kathleen Rogan leads the team with nine goals and 14 points. Lauren Barnes has a team-high nine assists. Kari Lundberg and Nicole Germaine also have double-figure points.

- Danielle Butters has started the majority of games in goal. She has a 3.13 GAA and a .916 save percentage.

- Head coach of Minnesota State is Eric Means. He is in his fifth season and has a 38-108-14 (.281) record.

- Lindenwood will be off until Jan. 24-25 when it travels to Rochester, N.Y. for a two-game series against RIT.
