Gymnastics Wins One Event Over Mizzou At Exhibition

The Lindenwood gymnastics team fell to Missouri on Sunday afternoon in the team's only exhibition meet of the preseason. The Lady Lions, competing without their full lineup, recorded a score of 179.55, compared to the Tigers' 191.95.

Lindenwood's top event was on the balance beam in which it recorded a team score of 48.80, defeating Missouri by 0.05. Five gymnasts recorded a meet high 9.8 including Lindenwood's Valeri Ingui, Courtney Heise, and Emily Turik.

On the vault and bars, the Lady Lions finished less than a point behind the Tigers. On the vault, Lindenwood had a score of 47.85, led by Ajiea Hargrave with a 9.70. The Lady Lions had a score of 46.40 on the bars, led by Katie Kuehl with a 9.60.

Lindenwood's lowest scores came on the floor where it had a 36.50. Rachel Zabawa had a team-high 9.40 on the floor. The only Lindenwood player to qualify for the all-around scores was Turik. She finished second out of three gymnasts with a 37.65.

Lindenwood begins its regular season on Jan. 11 at the University of Minnesota.
