The Lindenwood women's gymnastics team took on the highest-ranked team of its season on Friday night with a trip to SEC Auburn. The 11th-ranked Tigers defeated the Lady Lions by a 196.400-190.450 margin.
Lindenwood surpassed the 190-point mark for the fourth time in its last five meets. It had its highest score in the beam with a 48.125, and the program set a season-best mark in the vault with a team score of 48.000. The Lady Lions scored a 47.225 on the floor and a 47.100 on the bars.
The highlight against Auburn for Lindenwood came in the vault where three Lady Lions set or tied their season-high.
Courtney Heise set a season-best with a 9.575 and
Emily Turik matched that score to tie her best score of the season.
Daniela Fumagalli also had a season-high with a 9.550.
Rachel Zabawa had the best Lindenwood score in the event with a 9.750.
In the beam,
Valeri Ingui and Zabawa tied for the team-high with a 9.700. Heise led Lindenwood in the bars with a score of 9.775. Zabawa also led the team on the floor with a mark of 9.725. She finished the meet by scoring 9.7 or higher in all three events that she competed in.
In the all-round scores, Turik led Lindenwood with a 38.375. Ingui was second on the team with a season-high 38.000 and Heise finished with a 37.575.
Lindenwood returns to Hyland Arena on Sunday afternoon for a 2 p.m. contest against conference rival Texas Woman's.
