Tennis Competes at the Bethany Swedes Invitational

The Lindenwood men's and women's tennis teams competed at the Bethany Swedes Invitational this past weekend in Lindsborg, Kan.

Lindenwood had a total of one first place finish, four first place consolation winners, and three semifinalists in singles play. In doubles action the Lions had a second place finish, two semifinalists, and one consolation winner.

In the women's singles flight E was very active for Lindenwood players. Alexandra Medvedeva and Shreeja Karki met in the semi final which Medvedeva won both games 6-1, 6-1. The final went in favor of Medvedeva by scores of 6-3 and 6-2. Kate Walkenhorst made it to the finals of the consolation bracket in flight E before losing.

Flight C consisted of Mariona Pinol making it to the semifinals before losing to the champion Raga from Newman University. Diana Castro was the champion in the consolation bracket and Clara Piccamiglio was the consolation champion in her flight B.
Men's singles consisted of Johannes Rabenhorst and Yoshi Ysa finishing first in the consolation bracket in their respective flights. Sergio Lopez lost in the semifinals in the tie breaker 10-5.

Doubles action on the women's side contained Castro and Medvedeva losing in the semifinal while Karki and Walkenhorst made it to the finals before losing. Pinol and Daria Ivanova were consolation winners in their flight.

Both the men's and women's tennis teams will travel to Springfield, Mo. to compete in the ITA Regional Tournament for a two day event starting on Friday the 20th.
