The Lindenwood University men's ice hockey team fell 4-0 to Davenport University Saturday evening in Grand Rapids, Mich.
The Panthers jumped out to a 1-0 lead with three minutes left in the first period. Davenport increased the lead with back-to-back goals 56 seconds apart in the final minutes of the second period. The Panthers then added a final goal in the third period to secure the 4-0 win.
Goaltender Cody Karpinski stopped 29 of 33 shots in net for the Lions. Lindenwood returned to form on the penalty kill, going six-for-six on the night.
The loss was Lindenwood's first in the past six games. The Lions fall to 11-14-2 overall while Davenport improves to 20-9-2 overall.
The Lions will look to bounce back Sunday afternoon when the team travels to Adrian College for a game against the Bulldogs. The contest is the final non-conference matchup for the Lions during the regular season. The puck drops at 2:00 p.m.
