complete results

The Lindenwood gymnastics team surpassed 190 on Friday evening for the third time in five meets this year. Both of its opponents though scored season-highs and the Lady Lions finished third in the tri-meet in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Lindenwood finished with a team score of 190.600. The host school, Southeast Missouri, won with a 193.900, and UW-Whitewater scored a 191.075.

Rachel Zabawa continued her strong sophomore season by winning or sharing the individual title in all three events she competed in. She won the vault with a score of 9.800, and tied for first in both the beam (9.775) and floor (9.775). Teammate Ajiea Hargrave shared the floor title with Zabawa.

Led by Zabawa, the Lady Lions finished with marks of 48 in all three of those events. On the vault, Alicia Floyd, Hargrave, Emily Turik and Zabawa all scored a 9.600 or higher and Lindenwood finished with a 48.175. On the beam, which Lindenwood scored a 48.025, Valeri Ingui scored a 9.750, and Lauren Cartmell and Hannah Rector both had a 9.675. For the floor, Hargrave and Zabawa led Lindenwood to a team score of 48.125.

Lindenwood had just one bad rotation on the night on the bars. Turik led the team with a 9.700 and Courtney Heise had a 9.675. The Lady Lions score though was a 46.275 which kept the team from defeating UW-Whitewater and come closer against MIC rival Southeast Missouri.

The Lady Lions will be off until Feb. 9 when they travel to Texas to face a pair of MIC foes in Texas Woman's and Centenary.
