Lindenwood's field hockey team cruised to its third consecutive victory, handling non-conference opponent Dowling College, 4-2.
Lindenwood came out firing and scored the first two goals. The first was by
Victoria Buysschaert on a pass from
Greta Banholzer. The second goal was scored by Banholzer two minutes before halftime, giving the Lady Lions a 2-0 lead going into the half.
Ten minutes into the second half, Dowling cut Lindenwood's lead in half with a goal.
Karlie Quinn scored her third goal in two games to extend Lindenwood's lead back to two. Dowling wasn't going to let Lindenwood pull away and they scored on a penalty stroke goal with just five minutes left.
Linda Oberle quickly answered back for the Lady Lions to secure their third consecutive victory.
Protecting the net for the Lady Lions was
Victoria Gil, who had five saves en route to her fifth win of the season.
Carly Brengosz had a case of bad luck as she led Lindenwood in shots with six and shots on goal with four, but couldn't manage to find the net.
The win moves the Lady Lions record to 5-4. Coming up next for Lindenwood is another non-conference game at 12 p.m. central against Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.
