The Lindenwood Lady Lions soccer team jumped out to an early lead on Friday night but could not hold on against the Southwest Baptist Bearcats. The Lady Lions would eventually fall to the Bearcats 3-1 in St. Charles.
Becky Roberts got the scoring going early for Lindenwood just 47 seconds into the game. The goal was Roberts fourth of the year and her second consecutive game with a goal.
Unfortunately, for the Lady Lions the lead did not last long. Southwest Baptist scored in the seventh minute to tie up the score. The visitors broke the tie right before halftime and took the lead into the break 2-1.
The Bearcats put the game away in the 84
th minute scoring their third straight unanswered goal. Southwest Baptist dominated the stat sheet with 22 shots to just five for the Lady Lions.
The loss dropped Lindenwood to 4-5-2 overall and 3-3-1 in MIAA play. Up next for the Lady Lions is another home game on Sunday afternoon against Missouri Southern.
