Men's ice hockey jumped out to an early lead, but couldn't hang on in a 5-3 loss to Oklahoma on the road Friday night in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Jeremy Edwards scored the first goal for the Lions with help from Tobias Nasgarde and Rock Einersen lit the lamp off a feed from Graham Zagrodney, giving Lindenwood a 2-0 advantage at the end of the first period.
That lead increased to three early in the second when Zagrodney set up Einersen once again on a power play, but the Sooners took over from there. Three unanswered Oklahoma goals tied the game by the end of the period, and a power play goal in the third along with another late goal sealed the fate of the Lions.
The Sooners went three for six on the power play while Lindenwood only capitalized once in four chances. Oklahoma outshot the Lions 33-25 and Cody Karpinski stopped 28 of those 33 shots in a losing effort.
The Lions dropped to 0-4-1 and will try once again for an elusive first win of the season against the Sooners Saturday night in the final game of the series. The opening faceoff is set for 7 p.m. in Oklahoma City, Okla.
