Men’s Ice Hockey Breaks Through!

After a frustrating start to the 2014-15 season, men's ice hockey finally broke through with a win, and the Lions did it in grand fashion, knocking off Oklahoma, the number three team in the country, 8-1 Saturday afternoon in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Lindenwood jumped on the Sooners to build a 3-0 lead after the first period, and the Lions kept the accelerator down in the second to balloon the lead to 6-1 before adding another two goals in the final period.

Rock Einersen had a hat trick, plus two with five goals in the game and Lukas Daniels, Brandon Rumble, and Tobias Nasgarde each found the back of the net once.
Michael Hails earned his first win between the pipes for Lindenwood, stopping 31 of the 32 shots he faced.  The Lions power play found a rhythm, scoring three times in six chances while keeping Oklahoma scoreless in five man-advantage opportunities.

Lindenwood improved to 1-4-1 with the victory.  The Lions return to action in their first Central States Collegiate Hockey League series when they travel to Ames, Iowa to face Iowa State University October 17-18.  The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. both Friday and Saturday night.
