The Lindenwood men's soccer team scored on a late penalty kick goal to beat the Upper Iowa Peacocks 1-0 in Fayette, Iowa on Thursday night.
For the first 60 minutes of game play, neither team could dent the scoreboard. Finally, in the 62
nd minute the Peacocks were called for a penalty in their own box.
Lukas Martinen would attempt the penalty kick for the Lions and was successful to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.
Andrew Hamerlinck and the Lindenwood defense would do the rest and preserve the 1-0 shutout win. Hamerlinck made five saves on the night and earned his third shutout of the season.
With the win the Lions improved to 7-4-3 overall and 5-2-1 in MIAA play. Up next for Lindenwood is a road game against the Northeastern State Riverhawks on Oct. 18.
