Game Recap: Field Hockey (Discontinued) |

Field Hockey Dominates Newberry in 6-0 Conference Win

After falling just short to #5 Limestone yesterday, the Lady Lions came to play today against Newberry, leading to a 6-0 victory.

Lindenwood came out and scored their first goal of the game just three minutes in. The scorer was Chloe Bell on an assist from Carly Brengosz. This would turn out to be the only goal of the first half, but not because of a lack of opportunities for Lindenwood. The Lady Lions had ten shots compared to Newberry's four shots.

The Lady Lions started to find the back of the net in the second half. Scoring the first goal for Lindenwood was freshman forward Greta Banholzer. Scoring Lindenwood's second goal of the half was Banholzer again, reaching the back of the net for her eighth time of the season. Continuing the second half scoring barrage was Karlie Quinn. Graycen Dave got in on the action with a goal on an assist from Banholzer. The time it took from Banholzer's second goal and Dave's goal was under five minutes. Scoring the final goal of the game was Victoria Buysschaert. Lindenwood outshot Newberry 16 to 3 in the second half.

Lindenwood beat Newberry in penalty corners by a count of 18 to 5. Victoria Gil had a less busy day than usual and recorded her second shutout of the season with two saves. The win over Newberry makes Lindenwood 5-1 over their past six games.

The win improves Lindenwood's record to 7-5 and 2-2 in ECAC play. Coming up next for Lindenwood is another game against Newberry College, this one will be in St. Charles on October 24th.
