After over 60 minutes of weather delays the Lindenwood men's soccer team finally beat the Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm 3-0 on Thursday night in St. Charles.
Lindenwood started the scoring in the 21
st minute when
Alfredo Paez scored his second goal of the year. Just minutes after the goal the game went into the first of two weather delays on the night.
After the teams came back on the field the game would resume and headed into the halftime break with Lindenwood leading 1-0. In the 63
rd minute,
Andre Hayne finished a perfect pass Eduardo Spragge to give the home team a 2-0 lead. As soon as the ball went into the net lighting lit up the sky and the contest headed into its second delay.
Southern Nazarene came out after the final delay and started to put some pressure on the Lions defense. Lindenwood did not break and kept the shutout alive for
Andrew Hamerlinck.
The Lions put the game away with just four seconds remaining when
Mitchell Hunt scored in his third consecutive game.
With the win Lindenwood improves to 5-3-2 overall and 3-1 in MIAA play. The Lions will be back in action Saturday afternoon against Northeastern State. Â Â
