The Lindenwood men's soccer team lost a tough overtime game on Thursday night to No. 24 Fort Hays State in St. Charles. The Lions scored a late goal in regulation to send the contest into extra time but Fort Hays ruined the night with a goal in overtime.
The first half was a very defensive game with neither team being able to dent the scoreboard. After 45 minutes of no goals, Fort Hays finally broke through just 12 minutes into the final half.
With the game clock dwindling down, the Lindenwood leading goal scorer,
Andre Hayne, scored is sixth goal of the year with just over six minutes to play in the game.
The game would stay tied and head into overtime. After the Lions surrendered a corner kick to the Tigers, Michael Cole would score on a perfect pass and end the game with the golden goal.
After the loss Lindenwood drops its overall record to 7-6-3 and its MIAA mark to 5-4-1. Up next for the Lions is another home game against Harding on Oct. 30.
